A middle-aged man, identified as Yusuf Olasoji, has reportedly beaten his wife, Kehinde, to death his wife at the their Iyana-Iyesi, Ota, residence in Ogun State, over family issues.
The suspect, a welder, was reported to have beaten his wife with iron rod at midnight which resulted in the death of the woman.
It was gathered that the couple, for quite some time, had been having domestic issues which made them to be separated for some months.
The deceased, according to her twin sister, Taiwo Akinbote, had relocated to their mother's house over some marital problems until the suspect visited her in-law, urging his wife to return to his house.
According to Mrs. Akinbote, the deceased went back to her matrimonial home and during the night, the two of them started another round of quarrel.
She said the noise of the woman during the beating attracted neighbours who reported the incident to the police.
The remains of the mother of three had been deposited at the State Hospital, Ota, while the suspect had been transferred to the Police Headquarters, Eleweran, Abeokuta, for investigation.
The incident was confirmed by the command's image maker, Muyiwa Adejobi, who added that the suspect had since been in police custody.
According to him,"We have the case here with us. The suspect murdered his wife and has since been arrested. The Commissioner of Police has directed that the case should be transferred to the Criminal Investigation and Intelligence Department for proper investigation. Post-mortem will be carried out before we can release the corpse for burial."
