Students of the Lagos State University, on Thursady, called on the state governor, Mr Akinwunmi Ambode, to wade into the crisis that has thrown the institution into what they described as "a state of anarchy and lack of direction."
They made this call at a protest organised by the students' union over the inability of the management to release a timetable for their examinations.
Speaking to Tribune Online, the President of Lagos State University Students' Union (LASUSU), Adeyemi Onikoro Wasiu, said that the semester had been running for more than seven months now.
"Earlier in the week, we issued a three-day ultimatum to the management and the state government to resolve the protracted crisis between the staff unions and the management and immediately produce the guidelines for our exams. But as I speak to you, nothing has been done about it," he said.
The protest, which began at about 11.00 a.m., saw students in their hundreds singing on the main campus and outside the school gate, causing heavy traffic along the iyana Iba-Mile 2 expressway.
According to the president of the union, the protest would continue until the matter was finally resolved.
