Emeka Uche, who goes by the name Citizen, in Agege area of Lagos state, had on Wednesday returned back home after abandoning his four children and pregnant wife, who was said to be expecting a 3rd set of twins.
It would be recalled that Emeka ran away from his family in February after his wife, Ruth informed him that she was having their third set of twins.
Prior to Emeka’s return, according to report, his wife moved out of their dilapidated house in Agege and now lives in a mini flat in Ogun state with the money she received from kind hearted Nigerians who came to her rescue.
The run-away father, however, said: “It was not easy for me. I thought of killing myself on several occasions, but here I am carrying my twins for the very first time since they were born three months ago.”
“When I left, I went to my hometown where I spent a month. After that, I came back to Lagos but I didn’t go to my wife. I was squatting with a friend in Oko-Oba in Agege, not very far from my house. I was that close to my wife and kids but I refused to go home because I already made up my mind not to return until I can proffer a solution to our poverty, how to train my kids and cater for my family. I was ashamed too, to go back to that house to see them after I’d abandoned them for months.
The wife in her statement, expressed gratitude to God and the Lagos state government for uplifting her family. She also explained that she never imagined her life would be this easy and beautiful. She said, “I have never thought of living in such a house where you have your kitchen and toilet all to yourself. I moved in here on Sunday and I am so happy and grateful”.
