I will block all revenue leakages- Governor Okezie Ikpeazu

Abia State governor, Dr Okezie Ikpeazu, has said that he will do everything to cut down frivolous expenses in the state and block revenue leakages. He stated this at a meeting with the state transition committee chairmen of the 17 local government areas, under the aegis of Association of Local Governments of Nigeria (ALGON), who paid him a courtesy visit. According to him, he was determined to confront individuals who constituted hindrance at local government and state levels, even as he called on Abians to re-examine themselves and do away with things that could sabotage the state. Governor Ikpeazu also stated that ghost worker syndrome could not be sustained without the support of others, just as he saluted the doggedness of the transition committee chairmen regarding the partnership. Ikpeazu said he was prepared to pay only staff of the state that discharged their official duties and not those who did nothing. This was as he described the local government system as an integral part of every government and appreciated the chairmen for remaining focused in spite of obvious challenges. Earlier in his speech, the chairman, ALGON, Abia State, Chief Ukwu Rocks Emma, said they had resolved to assist the Governor in his quest for speedy development of the state, adding that they had told their council people that it would not be business as usual. He said that it was their resolve to ensure their workforce shun negative inclinations, and pledging their support to the Governor.
