Its a good news for those that cook, that the price of tomatoes has  come down and its a good news for me!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Price of tomatoes in various Lagos perishable goods markets has slightly reduced to N25,000 against its former price of N30,000 a basket in the state.

The secretary of Tomato dealers in Mile 12 market, Lawan Bilya Adam, said that the arrival of fresh tomatoes was the major reason that forced the price to reduce.
He said: “We thank God that the price has significantly reduced due to availability of new tomatoes in the market. We were selling a basket at N30,000 but now it is sold at N26,000 to N28,000. There is a tomato variety called ‘Dan Jos’ which is sold at N27,000 to N28,000. Another variety called ‘Dan Kaduna’ is also sold at N27,000 to N28,000.
“Even though the prices vary but we hope that they will be stable and come down finally to a reasonable level so that people can buy the basket without problem. The new commodity is supplied to market on daily basis. To that effect the price will come down. I call on our customers not to panic as the dealers are making effort to solve the pricing problem,” he added.
He maintained that they were expecting supply from Oyo, Osun, Ogun states and neighbouring countries like Ghana.
Also speaking, another dealer from Akeson perishable goods market, Alhaji Bala Muktar, said the price of tomatoes has reduced.
He said: “The price has reduced. We are selling baskets at N27,000 against N30,000. Fresh tomatoes are supplied to our market on regular basis. This morning we got supply from Kaduna, Jos, Oyo, Ogun and Osun states. We are expecting another supply from Ghana and other neighbouring countries. We heard good news that tomato farmers in the North are taking measures to kill insects that destroyed their tomatoes. We hope that the price will finally stabilise.”
