Osun workers Rejects 50% salary cut!!!!!!!!!!!!

 

Osun State workers yesterday vowed to resist any attempt by the state government to cut the salaries of civil servants in the state by 50 per cent.

The chairman of Nigeria Labour Congress in the state, Comrade Jacob Adekomi, who raised the allegation at a congress in Osogbo noted that workers in the state had endured with government by showing maturity and uncommon understanding by waiting for seven months without salaries before embarking on the strike action.

Adekomi insisted that the situation the state government found itself was a product of its systemic failure saying that the civil service is an institution that should not be toyed with in the running of the governance of any state.

According to him, as a direct result of government failure to fulfil its constitutional responsibility, they had lost a couple of workers to the cold arms of death.

His words, “Never will the workers accept this salary cut plan. Any attempt to cut the salaries of workers in the state even by 1 per cent will be vehemently resisted and will lead to unimaginable chaos.

“It is sad to inform the public that government had resolved to cut the salaries of the public servants in Osun state by 50 per cent from January 2015 and we want to unequivocally say that it is unacceptable to the entire workforce in the state.”

The NLC chairman said, “It is satanic, wicked and suicidal for any government to arrive at this position after he had failed in his constitutional responsibilities for the past eight months.”

But a release by the director, Bureau of Communication and Strategy, office of the governor, Mr Semiu Okanlawon, stated that government has cut salaries of only political officeholders by 50 per cent.
